The Machno Valley is a beautiful location and there is abundant fishing nearby on the River Machno. The hilly surroundings make this a brilliant place for activity holidays. There are many pleasant mountain and forest walks to enjoy from the village including the spectacular Conwy Falls. You can walk on the mountains eg Wyddfa or Carnedau, while taking in the beautiful views of the National Park. All these walks can be taken directly from the cottage. There is a friendly pub 400 yards from the cottage.
The village is in the valley of the Afon (River) Machno, one of the upper tributaries of the Afon Conwy. As with its well known neighbour, Betws-y-Coed, it is situated within the Snowdonia National Park, with the popular Penmachno Mountain Bike Trail that starts from just outside the village and passes through the forests of Snowdonia. The cottage is an ideal base for touring the National Park, With Betws-y-coed, Snowdonia and Capel Curig within a short drive. Although it is just 4 miles from Betws it does not suffer the crowds.
